Acceptable Use Policy
Last updated: 17 June 2026
This Acceptable Use Policy (“AUP”) describes what you may and may not do when using ExifGhost (the “Service”). It supplements and forms part of our Terms of Service. By using the Service, you agree to this AUP.

1. Your responsibility 2. Prohibited uses 3. People & faces 4. Enforcement 5. Reporting abuse 6. Changes1. Your responsibility
You are responsible for everything you do with the Service and for all images and metadata you process. You must comply with all applicable laws and with the rights of others. ExifGhost is a neutral, automated tool that runs locally in your browser: we do not receive, pre-screen or control your content, and we are not responsible for it.
2. Prohibited uses
You must not use the Service, directly or indirectly, to:
- violate any applicable law, regulation or sanction, or use the Service for any unlawful, fraudulent, deceptive or otherwise prohibited purpose;
- use edited metadata or image adjustments to deceive, defraud, impersonate, mislead, manipulate evidence, evade verification systems, bypass platform rules, or falsely represent the origin, location, date, device, authorship or authenticity of an image;
- use the Service in connection with identity fraud, fake documents, false evidence, scams, phishing, harassment, doxxing, non-consensual intimate imagery, or any unlawful surveillance or impersonation activity;
- infringe the intellectual-property, privacy, data-protection, publicity, contractual or other rights of any person;
- process images of identifiable individuals (their face, likeness or personal data) without the rights and consent required by law;
- impersonate any person or organisation, or misrepresent your identity or affiliation, in a manner that is unlawful or infringes the rights of others;
- harass, threaten, bully, defame, or incite hatred, discrimination or violence against any person or group;
- create, store or distribute content that is illegal — including, without limitation, any sexual content involving minors, which is absolutely prohibited and will be reported to the competent authorities — or any non-consensual intimate imagery;
- upload or distribute malware, or attempt to breach, probe, overload, scrape, reverse-engineer, circumvent or otherwise disrupt the Service, its security or its infrastructure;
- exceed, resell or abuse the Service beyond the limits of your plan, or use it on behalf of others in violation of these rules.
3. People & faces
Many images contain identifiable people. You alone are responsible for ensuring you have the lawful basis, rights and consents needed to process, alter and share any image that depicts a person’s face, body or likeness. Because all processing happens locally in your browser, ExifGhost does not receive or review your images and cannot verify any consent. We expressly disclaim any responsibility or liability for any unlawful or non-consensual use involving people’s faces, likeness or personal data. If you are unsure whether you have the right to use an image, do not use it with the Service.
4. Enforcement
We may investigate suspected violations and take any action we consider appropriate, including issuing warnings, removing access, suspending or terminating accounts or use of the Service, and — for serious violations such as content involving minors — reporting to law enforcement and cooperating with the authorities. We may do so with or without notice.
5. Reporting abuse
If you believe the Service is being misused, or that content or conduct violates this AUP, please report it to abuse@exifghost.com. We take reports seriously and will respond as appropriate.
6. Changes to this AUP
We may update this AUP from time to time. When we make material changes, we will revise the “last updated” date and, where appropriate, provide further notice. Your continued use of the Service after changes take effect constitutes acceptance of the updated AUP.
